Marvin A. Campos

Marvin Campos was born and raised in El Salvador. At the age of 11 he arrived in the United States to once again reunite with his family. Marvin served two years of LYLA executive positions as delegate of alumni relations and as president. He has volunteer for the 2013 and 2014 LYLC as a peer facilitator and 2015, 2016, 2017 and currently 2018 as an LYLC Adult Facilitator. Marvin is currently attend the College of Southern Nevada and is majoring in history, in order to become a high school history teacher.

Irene Auxiliadora Cepeda

Irene Cepeda is a first-generation college graduate. Her parents migrated to the U.S. from Nicaragua and worked very hard to provide her and her sister a better life. She received a Masters of Education and a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science from UNLV. Irene has been in higher education for over a decade, and currently works at Nevada State College as the HSI Title V Director. In 2018, she was elected to the CCSD School Board of Trustees. Her passions include being an active mom to a bouncy baby boy, diversifying the teacher pipeline, and student development.

Abigail Marroquin

Abigail Marroquin participated in the Latino Youth Leadership Conference in 2011 navy blue familia. She was on lead team in 2016 and red mom to 11 beautiful kids in 2017. This year she is recruitment coordinator and wants to give back and help plan the conference that has given her so much. She has a journal collection, loves reading books and is a star gazer. She strives to explore the world and try new things and learn something new everyday.

Kaytleen Salinas

Kaytlenn Salinas grew up in Las Vegas to Mexican immigrants, living briefly in Mexico when she was young. She is studying criminal justice at UNLV and hopes to apply to law school next fall. Kaytlenn participated in LYLC in 2017 as red familia, then in 2018 as green mom and lead team in 2019. This is her first year as adult staff but she is very excited to be helping making it happen! She enjoys trying new vegan foods and spending time with friends and family.

Jesus was born in South Lake Tahoe, CA and raised in Las Vegas, NV. He recently Graduated with an Associate of Business Degree in the Spring of 2019 at the College of Southern Nevada. When he is not at work or school, you will find him spending time giving back to the community, playing soccer, or enjoying time with his friends and family. He aspires to be the best he can be every day and to give back to others like others have given to him.

Arnold Placencia-Flores

Born and raised in Seattle, Washington, Arnold is the son of Mexican Immigrants. Arnold lives and breathes all things digital and media. He graduated from Nevada State College with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Visual Media: Animation. Having a special interest and passion for animation, Arnold also enjoys practicing videography, photography, graphic design and video editing. Arnold is big fan of cinema and 2-D animated works and he hopes to one day be involved in a production of something you will scroll past on Netflix/Hulu/Insert Internet Platform Here.

Nathalie Martinez

Nathalie Martinez a 1st-generation Latina immigrant with roots from Colombia and El Salvador. Having participated in 2015 and served as a Peer Facilitator in 2016 & 2017, Nathalie has served as Parent Engagement Coordinator since 2019. She is currently studying at UNLV to earn her Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and French. Her passions are for social justice and motivating others to reach their highest goals. You will often find her looking for her next adventure, mentoring students, or doing physical activities from gardening to running.
Norma Ramirez
Mental Health Advisor

Norma Ramirez, M.A. and PhD candidate in Clinical Psychology was born in Iguala, Guerrero, Mexico. She crossed the border at the tender age of 5 years old and has survived the the tumultuous experience of living undocumented in the United States. She is a warrior and a connector. In both her private and public life, she brings people of all different backgrounds together to fight for social justice and to engage in real and meaningful relationships. Professionally, Norma is providing therapy in the community mental health setting and her research focuses on the impacts of immigration enforcement on families.
Lin Martinez

Lin Martinez is a recent UNLV graduate who obtained her bachelors degree in Political Science with a minor in Criminal Justice. She is an individual who always finds time to give back to her community. During her 4 years as an undergrad Lin was an Engelstad Scholar and dedicated her time volunteering at the Legal Aid Center where she currently works. When she has free time she enjoys spending time outdoors with her daughter. She participated in the LYLC in 2015, became a peer facilitator in 2017, and has now taken on the role of lead recruiter.

Yari had the privilege of being born into an enormous Guatemalan family and was happily raised in between Las Vegas and Guatemala. She is a first-generation college graduate. She earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and Spanish Language and Literature from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Having been a participant in 2013, she was a peer facilitator for three years and is now on her third year as an adult facilitator. Yari enjoys punny jokes, spontaneous travel plans, reading both literature and whatever the kids are reading nowadays, and an emotional television series to match.
