1993 was only the beginning...

The Latino Youth Leadership Conference was developed through an initiative of the Latin Chamber of Commerce Education Committee in 1993, with the purpose of increasing college-going rates among Latinos and Latinas, while also developing their leadership skills.

The LYLC started as a three-day conference at the campuses of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and the College of Southern Nevada. The LYLC Planning Committee was comprised of only a handful of adults, back then. Today, the conference is coordinated by over 25 youth alumni under the direction of 10 adult facilitators. The LYLC is completely run by dedicated and passionate volunteers.

In keeping with our growth, the day to day operations of the Latino Youth Leadership Conference are executed through the Latino Youth Leadership Foundation, officially established as a 501C3 non-profit organization in 2015.
