ABOUT OUR STAFF

Peer Facilitators

Participants from prior years undergo a rigorous application, selection, and year-long training to become peer facilitators. Peer facilitators range from 18-23 years of age and must be college students. These amazing and hardworking individuals help, mentor, and guide participants throughout the conference. They serve as “moms” and “dads” to a cluster of 8-10 participants, their “kids.” Together a “familia” or family is created. Peer Facilitators are training in debriefing, communication, cultural competencies, facilitation, and several other skills.

Lead Team

The “Lead Team”, an additional team of volunteers ranging from 17 – 19 years of age, assist the Adult Facilitators in conference logistics throughout the week. The Lead Team is the team of younger volunteers on the LYLC staff. They attend and undergo the same application, selection and training process as the peer facilitators. The entire Staff of the LYLC is comprised of past LYLC participants. Together, they have grown and learn from each other.

Adult Facilitators

Adult Facilitators handle the logistics and execution of the conference. Within any conference year, there are between 5-7 “Adult Facilitators” working behind the scenes to make the conference come to fruition, year after year. Adult Facilitators range between the ages of 21-29
